BPP proposes not to apply the law on lustration of former KGB agents

 

In the Verkhovna Rada a bill, which proposes not to apply the law about the cleansing power to the full-time employees or covert agents of the KGB and the GRU.

The corresponding bill No. 8525 was a people’s Deputy from the party “Block of Petro Poroshenko” Mykola Palamarchuk.

The document proposes to exclude from the law norm that in respect of full-time employees or covert agents of the KGB, the KGB of the USSR, main intelligence Directorate of the USSR Ministry of defense the limitation of the civil service.

In the explanatory note to the bill specifies that current law supposedly discriminare citizens on a professional basis.

The document also States that current law does not take into account the fact that some of these persons could voluntarily leave the collaboration with the KGB, or such cooperation could be “merely nominal, or very short.”

The law about the cleansing power approved in 2014. The document, among other things, provides that the number of categories within ten years has no right to occupy posts in state bodies of Ukraine.

Now in lustration register kept by the Ministry of justice, there are 926 people. They are forbidden to hold public office
